Saddam Hussein Isn't the Only Terrorist
Makeda Carr
Issue date: 11/29/06 Section: Opinion
Saddam Hussein might be a terrorist but if he's going to be executed for a crime in the 1980s killings of 142 people, then other world leaders, especially in the U.S., should be executed for the killing of millions of people.
In the United States when bureaucrats do bad things they get away with it. Not only was the U.S. involved in killing all the sons of Saddam Hussein, which can not be justified, regardless of what they did, U.S. government officials have killed many others and destroyed countless lives.
What about the mass sterilizations of Native American and Puerto Rican women from the 1700s to the 1900s? What about the several thousand civilians we have killed in this war alone? Why are civilians getting killed in the crossfire in the name of democracy? When Al Queda was holding a funeral service for one of its soldiers the U.S. decided not to wipe them out.
How can we kill civilians but not most of Al Queda in a funeral service? Since when it is right to fight war in the name of democracy when another country is doing something we don't approve of? We butt our heads in their business, call them terrorists, kill their people and destroy their land.
We didn't invade because of all the innocent people who were being murdered and tortured by local terrorist. If this was the case why hasn't the United States butted into Africa's business? I'll tell you why not, because fighting for democracy in another land has nothing to do with people.
Think about these things and tell me it makes sense. Those in the U.S. that are celebrating Saddam's conviction have no idea why, because they don't research and get the whole story. How convenient was it that his execution was announced before the elections.
The endless assassinations attempts on foreign leaders and the CIA snatching people and putting them in secret prisons are out of the public eye. Are we out of our minds, to think that this is some kind of milestone in the name of democracy? I love my country, but wrong is wrong, and what I'm saying is Hussein should not be the only one on trial for past offenses.
Our Vice President Dick Cheney was one of the people who voted to deny Mandela's release during the South African Apartheid. That deserves some kind of punishment.
Readers, I cannot stress this enough, educate yourselves. You cannot rely just on news and media to determine your stance on today's political issues.

As I read this opinion, I could almost hear the black helicopters flying overhead. I believe nearly every current conspiracy theory was mentioned. I find it amusing that Conservatives are to blame for every ill in the world. (Continued…)
