CIAA Adopts New Eleven Team Bracket for Basketball Tournament

Hampton, VA... The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association has adopted an eleven (11) team bracket for the 2007 CIAA Basketball Tournament to be held in Charlotte, NC beginning Monday, February 26-March 3 at the Charlotte Bobcats Arena.? ?With the new eleven team bracket now in place, game times for the opening rounds (Monday and Wednesday) of the women's and men's tournament have changed to 3:00pm, 7:00pm and 9:00pm. Regular game times resume for the quarters and semis of both tournaments; 1:00pm, 3:00pm, 7:00pm and 9:00pm.? ?The women's final is scheduled for 5:00pm, with the men's final following at 8:00pm.? ?Explanation of eleven team bracket- For the 2007 regular season and tournament, the Eastern and Western Divisions will remain intact. During the regular season, teams have been scheduled according to Home & Home scheduling, regardless of divisional affiliation.? ?** Tournament seeding will be based on conference records and seeded accordingly, 1-11, with three (3) games in the first round. The top five (5) teams will earn byes into the second round.? ?If teams share the same conference record, the tie-breaker procedure will be used.?1. Divisional Record?2. Head-to-Head Competition?3. For example, if this week's men's standings (1/22/07) determined the tournament bracket, teams would be seeded as follows:
