Fayetteville State University is a great institution and great institutions do great things. This weekend, the Stand and Deliver Conference will prove itself as the epitome of leadership, intellectuality, networking, creativity, and nobleness. The conference continues in the legacy started two years ago by the FSU Student Government Association. Clifford Parker will oversee the signature venture. He is the President of the SGA, as well as a notable member of the elite Epsilon Zeta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Mr. Parker is a junior majoring in English Language and Literature.

The young exemplar is an important figure here at Fayetteville State. He is a member of the FSU Board of Trustees as well as an elect Thurgood Marshall College Fund Scholar. Standing proud from Kinston, NC, Parker has aspirations of completing a Student Affairs M.A. Program, and eventually serving as chancellor of a prestigous university. Along with being a fan of African American literature and ESPN, he takes utmost pride in helping the student body. "I'm not into politics, I just enjoy helping others in whatever facet", Mr. Parker explains. The Voice was privileged to sit down with Clifford Parker to get a better idea of how the Stand and Deliver Conference will benefit Fayetteville State University.

The Voice (TV): What is THE STAND & DELIVER CONFERENCE?
PARKER: THE STAND AND DELIVER CONFERENCE began two years ago as SGA's attempt to provide FSU students with a leadership conference of the same caliber as the popular Think Tank Leadership Conference often hosted by NC A&T. The SGA decided to host its' own conference rather than spend ridiculous amounts of money to send only a few students to the Think Tank. We have the resources right here at home. THE STAND AND DELIVER CONFERENCE has one core and fundamental purpose. That purpose is to meet the needs of our students. THE STAND AND DELIVER CONFERENCE is designed to meet the needs of our students in areas of both personal and professional development, areas directly related to career preparedness and development, and areas of methodological thinking & ideological analyses that are not met in the classroom.

TV: Why should the student body at FSU attend THE STAND & DELIVER CONFERENCE?
PARKER: FSU students should attend THE STAND AND DELIVER CONFERENCE because it was designed with students in mind. This conference offers things that are not covered in the classroom that will make us more competitive in the workforce and a cut above students that we compete with at other universities. We all want to be valuable and marketable in today's more than competitive world.
